John Kolar
From The Couple
John, What you created wasn’t simply a wedding video. Somehow, you managed to bottle up the feeling of our wedding day and give it back to us. Your creation feels exactly how that day felt when experiencing it in real time. The emotion, the landscape surrounding us, the intimacy of having our closest people there, the love woven throughout every moment — you captured all of it in a way that feels extraordinarily genuine. Immediately after we finished watching our wedding film for the first time, Christian looked at me and said, “That, by itself, made it all worth it.” That statement has truly stuck with me. Planning a wedding across the country came with challenges. There were stressful vendor situations, financial sacrifices, countless difficult decisions, unexpected obstacles, and plenty of moments where we felt overwhelmed. Yet after watching our film, it felt like every difficult part faded away. The investment was worth it. Every ounce of it. Christian also said he can’t wait to show our kids someday, and I don’t think there could be a greater compliment than that! I honestly didn’t know what to expect when it came to seeing our wedding through the lens of Super 8 film. I’ve seen beautiful examples before, but it’s not something that’s very common where we’re from. I couldn’t picture what Christian, our families, Arizona, or our wedding would look like through that nostalgic medium. What you created surpassed every expectation I had. I truly don’t think I was prepared for how emotional it would be to see our story told through your eyes. And I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve probably watched our film close to a hundred times already. I’ll watch it, restart it immediately, and watch it again… Christian and I will cherish this film for the rest of our lives. I have no doubt that years from now we’ll still be sitting down together, watching it, and feeling every emotion all over again. We are endlessly grateful for you, John.
